Common Uses
Used as aggregate in concrete, as a base for sidewalks, asphalt, driveways, and railroad ballast. Can leave a road or driveway unpaved because the angular, irregular shape of the stone allows it to mesh together on a flat surface. It holds its shape well, providing a relatively stable unpaved surface. Frequently used to for drainage. Water can percolate through the stones and channel water away from wet areas. First choice for use in French drains, septic drainage fields and other types of drainage projects. Preferred stone for managing drainage around retaining walls, underground pipes, sewers, and utility lines.
